What is Cancer?
Understanding the nature of cancer and how it develops in the body.
What is Cancer?
Cells are the basic units of life, and all living beings are made of these cells. A large number of these cells organize to form tissues, which carry out specific functions and ultimately form organs like the skin, liver, lungs, and kidneys.
Normally, cells divide, multiply, and grow in a controlled manner. However, when this control mechanism fails, cells start multiplying uncontrollably, resulting in the growth of abnormal cells.
Cancer can arise in any organ of the body, including the lungs, breasts, liver, kidneys, and brain. Although it is often considered a single disease, cancer comprises many different disease types.
How Does Cancer Develop?
When exposed to certain internal or external factors, cells can lose control over their normal multiplication process and begin dividing uncontrollably. This uncontrolled growth leads to the formation of a mass of cells known as a tumor.
These fast-multiplying cells are referred to as cancer cells. They continue to grow and divide, forming tumors that may invade nearby tissues and, in some cases, spread to other parts of the body.
